Man of La Mancha
Date: 02/10/2007
Description: This is one of the watershed shows
of the American musical theater. Its seamless integration of
music and dialogue illuminates its characters and propels the
plot with an intensity that had only been hinted at in the works
of Rodgers and Hammerstein. This five-time Tony Award-winning
production reigns as the original "quest" musical. The
centuries-old tale of Don Quixote has been told in many
different ways, but none can compare to this lavish and
triumphant Broadway musical hit. A poignant and often funny
story for the entire family, Man of La Mancha is a treat for all
the senses, and just might ignite your own quest for adventure.
Its songs are unforgettable, most of all the inspiring hit, "The
Impossible Dream (The Quest)." The lights, costumes, dancing and
music will leave you breathless. The story will leave you
speechless. 7:30 PM, Tickets: $59 - $79.

The Wailin' Jennys
Date: 04/30/2007
Description: Playing fiddle, accordion and
guitar, the Wailin' Jennys bring a fresh, Canadian perspective
to traditional American music. Soprano Ruth Moody, mezzo Nicky
Mehta, and alto Annabelle Chvostek, make music, reviewers say,
that is "soulful," "luscious" and "sweet." Their masterful
three-part vocal harmonies are "exquisite" and "spine-tingling."
Behind the words, however, there are the touching songs: an
informed mix of original and traditional tunes that visit a
variety of roots styles, focusing on harmony but grounded by a
moving and intricate instrumental base. This outstanding female
group spans the boundary between roots and pop with a divine
union of powerful voices weaving melodic magic with relaxing
enjoyment. 7:30 PM, Tickets: $19 - $29

downtown Wausau
