Description: Here's your opportunity to experience some of the greatest singer/songwriters in the world, live for one evening only, at the Grand. Known for their thought-provoking lyrics and inspiring songs, this group of guys with guitars guarantee an evening of rockabilly honky tonk. The Wailin' Jennys
Date: 04/30/2007
Description: Playing fiddle, accordion and guitar, the Wailin' Jennys bring a fresh, Canadian perspective to traditional American music. Soprano Ruth Moody, mezzo Nicky Mehta, and alto Annabelle Chvostek, make music, reviewers say, that is "soulful," "luscious" and "sweet." Their masterful three-part vocal harmonies are "exquisite" and "spine-tingling." Behind the words, however, there are the touching songs: an informed mix of original and traditional tunes that visit a variety of roots styles, focusing on harmony but grounded by a moving and intricate instrumental base. This outstanding female group spans the boundary between roots and pop with a divine union of powerful voices weaving melodic magic with relaxing enjoyment. 7:30 PM, Tickets: $19 - $29
Location: Grand Theater, 415 4th Street downtown Wausau
